Best penguins by jersey number: # 93

 

The organizational history of Pittsburgh’s Penguins has a plethora of great players, and we decided to go through the best Penguins players to wear each jersey issue. Today, we continue the list by naming the best # 93 in the history of the Penguins.

A single player in the history of the Penguins carried # 93 and, even if it was only in Pittsburgh for two seasons, they were two of the best seasons of his NHL career.

The best and only # 93 in the history of the Penguins is Petr Nedved

Nevada was drafted second in the general classification by the Vancouver Canucks during the NHL 1990 draft. The Czech striker was known to the jump for his size, his stick brand and his wrist shot. He broke out in the 1992-1993 season with the Canucks, recording 38 goals and 71 points in 84 games.

However, a contract dispute with Vancouver led him to sit on most of the season and finally be exchanged to the Blues of St. Louis, where he only played 19 games. He spent a season with the New York Rangers, then was involved in a successful business to come to Pittsburgh for the 1995-1996 season – where he had two of the best seasons in his career by playing with some of the best players Hockey.

During his first season with the Penguins, he set quarry peaks in goals with 45 and points with 99. But this is not what was most memorable of this season.

Nedved scored one of the greatest goals in the playoff series in the history of the franchise, scoring the winning goal of the quadruple prolongation match against Washington’s capital in match 4 of their quarter -final series of the conference of East in 1996. This goal equaled the 2-2 series for the Penguins, and they won the next two games and took the series

He had another successful season with the Penguins the following year, recording 33 goals and 71 points in 74 games. However, another contractual conflict made Nedved pass through all the 1997-1998 season, and he ended up receiving a contract with the Rangers for the 1998-99 season which allowed him to make less money than He would not have done with the Penguins and his reputation of the League was tarnished.

Nedved spent games of five good seasons with the Rangers before being exchanged at Edmonton’s Oilers during the 2003-04 season. After the lockout, he spent parts of the following two seasons – the last two of his NHL career – with the Arizona coyotes, the Philadelphia flyers and the Oilers.

During his 15 -year NHL career, Nedved recorded 310 goals and 717 points in 982 games.
