Bronny James is back with the South Bay Lakers of the G League, while the Los Angeles Lakers begin a six -game road trip against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. And he offered a show for local supporters on Friday evening.
At the end of the third quarter of the South Bay match against Rip City Remix, James brought the ball to the field, dribbled around a screen by Christian Koloko and rolled the way for a thunderous dunk on Sterling Manley which would make a superb poster.
This equalized the match at 80-80 and James celebrated his flagship game with his teammates while Rip City asked for a time. Inspired by the Dunk poster, South Bay finished the third quarter on a score of 9-4 and stayed in front of almost the fourth en route to a 122-110 victory.
James finished with 31 points, pulling 5 out of 11 to 3 points, leading South Bay to his second victory of the season. At 2-7, the Lakers of the G League are the penultimate of the Western Conference. James played his first game with the team since December 21.

Quincy Olivari added 20 and seven rebounds out of the bench, while Koloko scored 16 with 10 rebounds. Sir’jabari Rice scored 15, joined by Trey Jenism III and Jordan Goodwin each totaling 14 points.
“I’m just trying to play games for me and my teammates, everything I try to do,” said James in an post-match interview. “It ended up being a poster dunk that energized the whole team and it went well.”
For Rip City, Alex Reese scored 32 points with seven rebounds, followed by 15 points from Manley. Henri Drell, Cameron Tyson and Tyrell Roberts each added 14 points for the Remix, which brought their record to 4-5.
With the NBA Lakers on the road, James will probably not join the team before at least on February 4, during his visit to the Los Angeles Clippers.
